Guilin Geographic Features

Guilin Geographic FeaturesGuilin is located between latitude 248 and 251 north and longitude 1095 and 1100east in the northeast of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, covering an area of 4,195 square kilometers.

It is in the basin surrounded by Yuecheng Range, Ocean Hill, Jiaqiao Range and Tianping Hill. It appears at the southern end of Gui-Xiang Corridor. Li River is meandering through Guilin from north to south, with a yearly sand content of 0.067kg/m3 and strong self-cleaning ability. Karst caves and stone forests feature the wonderful natural ecological environment of Guilin, whose altitude is 140-160 meters. Millions of years ago, this area was an expanse of sea. Two crustal movements of the earth that took place about 200 and 180 million years ago thrust the limestone sediments out of the sea from its bottom more than 200 meters below the surface to form a large expanse of land. The karst formation becomes the hills and rocks of unusual shapes through many years of erosion by the wind and rain. Therefore there are many complete and wonderful karst sites, which have highly scientific value and tourist value.

Yunnan is a perfect showpiece of China's many natural wonders, rugged, wild, and unspoiled. The province is famed for its multitude of ethnic groups, of China's fifty-five officially recognized ethnic minorities, twenty-five can be found in Yunnan. Here visitors could find snow-capped mountains, mysterious deep valleys, peaceful highland lakes, magnificent Karst hills, tropical rainforests, and torrential rivers.

As the capital of China, Beijing is the political, cultural, and intellectual center of the country. Beijing has so much to offer travelers. The celebrated tourist center is filled with historical highlights, the most well known ones are: Great Wall, Forbidden City, Summer Palace, Temple of Heaven, Ming Tombs...

Tibet Autonomous Region, a mystical land called "the Roof of the World", more than 50 peaks in this area are higher than 7,000 meters, and 11 peaks exceed 8,000 meters. Mt. Everest - the world's highest peak is located in Tibet. Tibet offers fabulous things to see, including unique Buddhist monastery, breathtaking high-altitude lakes, stunning views of the snow mountains and brilliant Tibetan culture.
